How to Search the Bible on Your Kindle

The benefits of the Kindle are obvious: it has enabled us to read comfortably, and get new books in minutes. But did you know that you can download Osnova's King James Version of the Bible, and use a method known as "Direct Verse Jump" to get the information you need? It is truly an awesome way to find just what you are looking for.

Using "Direct Verse Jump" to perform searches, all you need to do is simply type an abbreviated book name which is detailed in the table of contents, type a period (.), chapter number, period again and then the verse number. Then you just press Find twice. The search results happen in a matter of seconds. If you are only looking to get to the first verse of a chapter, you can skip the verse number when doing the search.

From a student's point of view, this is a good version to use for study. But on the other hand, there are a few things that could be improved on.

• It is a great addition that notes can be made and saved, but an option to customize the way that they are numbered categorized and saved would be a benefit.

• When searching for a keyword, it would be helpful if you could search for it within a single book of the Bible. Scrolling through pages and pages of hits on a single word is very overwhelming.

• It isn't helpful to the reader to see just the Kindle's location number. It would be better to see the book, chapter and verse listed in each hit on a keyword.

• Within the product description, it notes that you will always know where you are in the Bible. That is partially true. Each verse does have the chapter and verse number listed, but it doesn't tell you what book you are in.

As an alternative to the "Direct Verse Jump" method, there are two other ways you can move between books and chapters.

1. Press the joystick right or left to move between books then
2. Use a hyperlinked table of contents

Despite some minor issues, Osnova's King James Version is a perfect addition to your Kindle. For those who want to study the Bible in detail, the Direct Verse Jump tool is very helpful for navigation and getting right to the point.

The Kindle Bible search definitely isn't the only thing you can do on your Amazon device. For more Kindle how to's and information on today's most popular ebook readers, visit us at http://ebookreadersresource.com.
